Sunshine Sevens presents £10,000 to charities

THE Rugby Club took the occasion of last weekend’s vital league match  against Colchester for the presentation of proceeds from the Sunshine Sevens fund-raising activities over the past year.

A combination of money raised from the Sunshine Sevens weekend, the Annual Golf day, and member donations enabled the organising committee to present the nominated charities with £10,000.

The donations were received by Debbie Kittow from the Step-by-Step school for Autism, Bill Pinder and Gill Brown on behalf of Opportunity play group, and Jeremy Glynne Jones on behalf of Wooden Spoon.

Chairman Garry Gordon and Mark Gearon presenting the cheques on behalf of the committee said “This has been a real Club effort and shows the great generosity of the East Grinstead Rugby Club members and supporters.

“We look forward to their continued support for this year’s Sunshine Sevens on Sunday 24 April and the Golf Day on 22 July at the Royal Ashdown.

“We will also be building for next year’s Tournament, when we will be celebrating 60 Years of Sunshine Sevens.”
