THE Police are appealing for information about a life size fibreglass donkey which was stolen from the Edenbridge and Oxted agricultural show in Lingfield last weekend.

The donkey, named Dotty, is the mascot for the Brooke Sussex Group, an animal welfare organisation which raises money for real donkeys working overseas.

It appears that someone stole the donkey sometime between midnight and 7.30am on Monday 31 August at the showground on Tandridge Lane.

PCSO Conrad Cheeseman said: “This is such an unusual thing to steal and we are sure that someone would have seen something or knows its current whereabouts. The donkey has huge sentimental value to the owner and she is equally upset that someone would steal from a charity in this way.

“If you have any information about it then please do the right thing and call Surrey Police so we can return it to its rightful owner.”
