AFTER weeks of refurbishment and building works, the East Grinstead branch of Sainsbury’s has re-opened. The store was opened at 8am by the longest-serving member of staff, Val Creasey. Senior head office managers were on hand to greet shoppers, as they entered the store through a gateway of colourful balloons. The new style store features a bigger bakery, delicatessen, meat and fish counter boasting a wide selection of fresh food including cakes, pastries and pizzas.
There is an extensive collection of make-up and extended ranges of homeware, gifts and music and entertainment. The shop now has a great variety of men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, including the new Gok Wan-designed range. Staff can now help elderly or disabled customers with the store’s own mobility scooter.
The improved store features a number of energy saving initiatives, such as LED lighting and rainwater harvesting tanks to help reduce its carbon impact on the surrounding environment.
The aisles are extended and run right through the store and a new pharmacy is located towards the back and features a new consultation room. Members of staff are supporting Jigsaw and welcome donations to the local charity which supports bereaved children and their families.
In around four weeks time, a refitted Starbucks will re-open with a new look. Store Manager, Martin Cawdry, said ‘I am very proud today of the new store and all the hard work my colleagues have put into getting it ready.’
