Art Souffle Festival opens at Kingscote vineyard

IMG_1506EAST Grinstead’s Art Souffle Festival was officially launched at the Kingscote Estate last night with a ribbon-cutting by Town Mayor Nick Hodges.

Organised by Samantha van Dalen, the Festival – based in a beautiful 15th century barn at the vineyard – features the work of sculptor Alexandra Beale and painters Gill Bustamente and Charles Willmott.

A special guest at the launch party was Dennis Locorriere, formerly lead singer with Dr Hook, who not only performed a set of hits to the hugely appreciative audience, but was also displaying his own cartoons for sale.

The Festival is open to the public for the next ten days.

The Kingscote Estate, which is open daily, is currently harvesting its first commercial harvest of homegrown grapes.

So if you want to take a stroll around the vines, have a look at the lily-covered lakes, sample the wine and take in some culture, pop along on Saturday for the Art Festival Open Day.
